anitabling.

January 12, 2010 by somethingsarepriceless

These are some of anitabling’s taller sculptural works, housed inside acrylic boxes, are displayed like museum pieces, she also references the cutting technique in some of her other unbordered pieces by literally driving knives or saw blades into them. Haphazardly, like a knife left-over in the butter dish after a hurried breakfast, as if more chromatic cutting and splicing and slashing is left to be done once she returns.

Unfortunately, her Flickr page doesn’t link to another site and it’s all in Spanish.

Counting every Millisecond.

January 8, 2010 by somethingsarepriceless

Have you ever wondered what it would look like if a porcelain vase exploded in slow motion? Using advanced 3D virtual simulations, this vase was modeled and destroyed one frame at a time, and then captured at various ‘Millisecond’ intervals throughout the explosion. The vases are produced and manufactured using the latest 3D Printing technology and Rapid Prototyping. Designed by Bruce Cowie in collaboration with Hong Kong based luxury goods company Hilton Qiu, Each vase is limited to 5 pieces worldwide, and the 4 different ‘Millisecond’ versions will be available exclusively through the Design is a good idea showroom at 44 Stanley.

Price on request. To reserve this very limited piece or for further information, contact: sales@designisagoodidea.com
